It was the decade in which women first liberated themselves from constricting fashions and began to wear more comfortable clothes (such as short skirts or trousers).
Haute couture design flourished in 1920's Paris and new magazines appeared which chronicled the rapid changes in fashion. Some of these deluxe magazines were produced in limited editions and featured speciallhy commissioned fashion illustrations produced using the pochoir process, a process of hand coloring the illustrations using stencils. These illustrations are now sought by collectors and are quite rare.
