Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) is one of the world's most beloved artists. Born in Holland, he came to France in 1886 where he was influenced by the impressionists. In less than 4 years (1886-1890) he created most of his greatest works. Despite his talent, he sold one painting during his lifetime. Yet within a short time after his death, his genius became apparent to the art world which had recently ignored him.
